On the topic of "Symbioses - Networks of Life", we created installations on various symbioses. Symbiosis refers to the coexistence of living beings of different species for mutual benefit. The topic of our group was Darwin's hawkmoth, which is in symbiosis with an orchid, the star of Madagascar. The plant increases the chance that its pollen will be transferred to the flowers of its conspecifics. The hawkmoth, in turn, has an advantage over other insect species due to the better adaptation of its proboscis.

We have implemented our exhibition with a formation of hanging books. This filigree and fluttery realization is supposed to remind of the wings of a hawkmoth and its lightness. Accompanying the hanging books, we decided on a touch screen as a media application, which is attached to a wall. This is kept black because of the night activity of the hawkmoth.

We finally implemented the hanging books by placing an adhesive film printed with content on polystyrene panels. With fine holes, a nylon thread was previously attached to these panels, which allowed them to be attached to a ceiling structure.

In our visualization, we chose consistent illustrations, which already point to our media application. The "book pages" contain a lot of white space, which is partially only broken up by the illustrations.

On the screen, visitors can learn more about the concrete interaction between hawkmoth and orchid, as well as coevolution. We have compared the situation day and night with each other.
